Trial Underway For Woman Accused Of Burning Neighbor's House Down

LOWER POTTSGROVE, Pa. (CBS) --   The trial is underway in Montgomery County court of a Lower Pottsgrove woman who is accused of setting a police officer's home on fire.  Authorities allege it was part of an ongoing feud over her son's legal issues.

52-year-old Donna Krupp is accused of burning down her next door neighbor's Lower Pottsgrove home while he and his family were at Disney World last November. The home burnt to the ground, killing the family pet. According to the prosecution, she lit the fire because she was upset her son was going to spend the holidays behind bars after a probation violation.

She blamed her neighbor, a Limerick Township police detective, for his arrest.
Krupp's attorney, John Fioravanti says this is a case of mistaken identity:

"The essence of this case is whether she committed the arson, and the alleged motive argument, really they're just using it, in my view as a red herring," Fioravanti said.

In his opening statement, prosecutor Chris Daniels says the evidence will show Krupp is the person seen in surveillance video setting the fire, Daniels says "due to revenge and misguided blame."
