Report: Bill O'Brien Interested In Maryland Job

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is reportedly interested in going back to college football.

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Confora, the former Penn State head coach is interested in the University of Maryland head coach opening. O'Brien was the running backs coach at Maryland in 2003 and 2004.

La Confora reports, "according to sources close to the school, prominent Maryland alumnus Kevin Plank, founder and CEO of Under Armour, and other key figures in the hiring process are aware of O'Brien's interest."

O'Brien has botched the quarterback situation in Houston causing some friction with general manager Rick Smith, but now with Brian Hoyer starting, the 3-5 Texas are just 0.5 games back in the putrid AFC South.

However, Texans beat writer John McClain is reporting that O'Brien has "no interest" in the University of Maryland position.
