Ray Didinger's Rant: 'I Don't Care How Many Damn Plays You Ran'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The even-keeled Hall Of Fame football analyst Ray Didinger doesn't get emotional often, but when he does, you know he means it.

Didinger, speaking on Comcast SportsNet's Eagles post-game show, was furious following the Eagles' 20-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins. After the game, Chip Kelly mentioned that his team ran 88 plays.

That annoyed Ray Didi.

"Chip's talking about we ran 88 plays, like that's a big accomplishment," Didinger said. "You ran 88 plays and you scored 19 stinking points against the Miami Dolphins. Guess what? I don't care how many damn plays you ran. OK? I really don't. You ran 88 plays, you scored 19 points against the Miami Dolphins. You scored three points in the last three quarters against the Miami Dolphins, against the 25th ranked defense in the league, against the 31st ranked run defense in the league.

"Don't tell me how many because I don't care. At the end of the day, the scoreboard tells me it wasn't enough. And the thing that really bothers me about this is, this division is so awful. You can win this division blindfolded. And yet these guys are in the process of giving it away."

Kelly joined the 94WIP Morning Show on Monday and clarified his comments about the number of plays the Eagles ran on Sunday.

"We're not looking for plays, we're looking for points," Kelly said. "I'll take eight plays if we score enough points. I've never been about plays, it's been about production on the offensive side of the ball. And when you keep—self-inflicted wounds on the offensive side of the ball is what hurt our football team. We had bad snaps that put us in a negative situation and too many penalties."
