Mayor-Elect Kenney To Hold Town Hall Meetings Across Philadelphia

By Steve Tawa

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor-elect Jim Kenney and his transition team will hold town hall get-togethers all over Philadelphia the week after Thanksgiving.

The incoming mayor and his transition team will have at least four town hall meeting in various sections of the city, all of which will be at 7:30 p.m. - when it's convenient for folks.

"It's interaction with the public. They're paying your salary and for the government. It's their tax money involved, and they should have a say in what's going on."

Kenney is keen to listen to their thoughts on the future of Philadelphia.

"Part of our whole concept here is that no zip code should matter, when it comes to meeting your potential, and that we have to pay attention to neighborhoods that are struggling."

The Town Halls will be at Central High School on Olney Avenue, South Philadelphia High on South Broad, the Mayfair Community Center on Saint Vincent Street, and Strawberry Mansion High School on Ridge Ave., November 30th through December 4th.

"As we get started in 2016 in a new term, we want to make sure that we have a representative group of thoughts from people in the community as to what they want us to do."
