Veterans Day Ceremony Held At Korean War Memorial In Old City

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Veterans Day ceremony was held in Old City Wednesday at the Korean War Memorial.

Veterans of all American wars and conflicts were remembered. Speakers, though, wanted to highlight the men who served and lost their lives in Korea, which some refer to as the forgotten war.

Korean War Memorial president Bill Kelly believes vets should be thought about and thanked more, not just on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

"I want to see these men honored. I spent a lot of time with them, and they are deserving of the honors they don't often get," said Kelly.

There was also a special dedication to Frank Vitetta, a veteran and the architect of the memorial, who died this year at age 83.

"He donated all of his time to see that the memorial was completed," said Kelly.
