Dozens Of Demonstrators Push For Higher Minimum Wage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens of Philadelphia fast food workers joined a nation-wide demonstration, Tuesday, to push for a $15 minimum wage.
Councilwoman-elect Helen Gym, State Senator Daylin Leach and U.S. Senate candidate Katie McGinty rallied the protestors at City Hall.
"Nobody (nobody) who works hard (who works hard) should live in poverty."
But the point of the protest was workers like Shamira Jones.
"I work at Popeye's. I've been there six years now and I only make $8.25 (an hour). That's just not enough."
The workers here joined tens of thousands of others in hundreds of cities, kicking off a year-long campaign, in hopes of showing enough muscle to put pressure on candidates to support a higher minimum wage.
