Gov. Wolf Talks About Budget Impasse During Philadelphia Visit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Governor Tom Wolf visited Philadelphia for a conversation on the Drexel University campus at a gathering called "ThinkFest," discussing the role education plays in building a 21st century economy.
The Democratic governor says he understands the pain that comes with the budget impasse in Harrisburg between him and the Republican controlled Legislature. It's been going on every day since mid-summer.
And he was asked point blank whether Republicans could recruit a veto-proof number of Democrats and Republicans will pass their own budget in the coming days:
"I agree with that assessment. We need to get moving."
Wolf says they are much closer to an agreement now than they were in June.
"When we do get that budget, it'll reflect I think what's good for Pennsylvania rather what's good for a very narrow partisan point of view."
On the topic of saving schools:
"It isn't you can't throw money at any problem and hope to get to a good outcome. My argument is you can't keep taking money away from a problem and hope to get to a good outcome, either."
Then he told the gathering other things are important, too - like parental involvement and the ability to go to school without trauma in your life and neighborhood.
