Week 6: Eagles Studs And Duds
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's not a coincidence a lot of the studs are on defense and the duds are on offense, as the Eagles shutdown the Giants en route to a 27-7 win.
Yes, the offense totaled 425 yards, but the four turnovers are what standout. Defensively, after allowing a touchdown on the Giants' first drive, the Eagles defense put the clamp down, allowing just 172 yards on their final 12 drives.
Duds
3. Jordan Matthews
What the heck is going on with Matthews? So sure-handed as a rookie, and all the sudden he's Mr. Butterfingers. Matthews had six catches for 59 yards, but was targeting 11 times. He also lost a fumble.
2. Jason Kelce
What the heck is going on with Kelce? So reliable last year and all the sudden he's Mr. Mistakes. Did I just write that? I did?
Kelce had two more bad snaps and another egregious holding penalty, halting a drive.
1. Sam Bradford
NINE interceptions in six games, including five in the last two games, including three in the red zone, including three in the end zone! Come on, Sam!
Studs
3. DeMarco Murray
Murray rushed for 109 yards on 22 carries and added three catches for 14 yards. He ran hard, he ran powerful, and he capped the Eagles' third-quarter touchdown with a beautiful stiff-arm 12-yard TD run, putting a stamp on the victory.
2. Nolan Carroll
Carroll was excellent in coverage all game and his pick-six gave the Eagles the lead for good. Carroll finished with seven tackles, second among Eagles, and two pass defenses.
1. DeMeco Ryans
Mufasa! Ryans was everywhere on Monday night. Unfortunately, he injured his hamstring in the second half and left the game, but not before potentially saving the season.
With the Giants on the verge of taking a two-score lead on their second drive of the game, Ryans ripped the ball out of the hands of Giants TE Larry Donnell and changed the entire game. Ryans finished with five tackles, two pass defenses, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
Ryans became the second Eagles linebacker this season to have an interception and a fumble recovery in the same game (Jordan Hicks). Also, he became the only NFL linebacker with at least one interception in each of the last four seasons.
