Police: 13-Year-Old Boy And Older Brother Shot In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot five times in North Philadelphia last night and police are trying to get some answers.

Police say the victim's older brother was also wounded.

When officers arrived to 18th Street near West Tioga at 7:30 Tuesday night, Chief Inspector Scott Small says no victims were there, just shell casings.

"Based on ballistic evidence on the scene we know at least eight shots were fired from a semi-automatic weapon."

Soon, police found out two victims were driven to Temple Hospital in separate cars. Small says a 13-year-old boy, shot five times, was taken to the hospital by his mother.

Police say the boy's 20-year-old brother was shot once. Both are listed in stable condition.

Officers interviewed the two in the hospital.

"Neither of the victims could give us a motive for the shooting nor could they tell us a description of the shooter or shooters."

Also, police say some shots hit a house on the block but no one inside was hurt.
