Making Manning Uncomfortable, A Key To Victory For Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There have been a host of quarterbacks who have been under center in the NFC East in recent years. The one constant remains with the Giants.

Eli Manning continues to show both durability and a high level of quarterback play. After a slow start, Manning has led the Giants to three straight victories and is a big reason why New York sits atop the division. Manning has the Giants' offense clicking, and Eagles defenders such as Safety Malcolm Jenkins know Manning has been the division's top quarterback throughout much of his career.

"You look at all of the quarterbacks in the division," said Jenkins. He's got two Super Bowl championships. You have to respect that. He's probably played at a higher level than every single one of them over his career."

After two straight defeats, Manning played well in victories over Washington, Buffalo and San Francisco. He led the Giants to a last-minute comeback in the win over the 49ers, and Manning likes the way the Giants offense is playing over the past three games.

"All of the players have a better understanding and a better feel for this offense," Manning said. "We're protecting the football. We're not turning the ball over much. We're getting much more positive yards and we're not taking sacks."

The Eagles defensive front will try to make life uncomfortable for Manning. The Giants' quarterback has been sacked less this season than a year ago partially due to his ability to get rid of the football quickly, but Eagles Defensive Lineman Fletcher Cox says the New York offensive line is also doing its job.

"The Giants have a real good offensive line," said Cox. "They're doing a great job. They've allowed four sacks. It means one of two things: he's getting rid of the ball, and they're doing a great job of blocking."

One weapon the Eagles will have going for them Monday is the crowd. The Eagles and Giants are no strangers to prime time showdowns, and Manning knows his offense will have to prepare for a raucous atmosphere in South Philadelphia.

"It's going to be loud," Manning said. "They're going to be fired up. Prime Time on Monday night should make for a great atmosphere."
