Study Finds Lithium Safe For Children With Bipolar Disorder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new study finds that Lithium is safe and effective for treating children with bipolar disorder.

The medication is commonly prescribed for adults to control mood swings.

Research in the journal Pediatrics focused on patients between the ages of seven and 17.

It found Lithium is safe for that age group, at least for the short term.
