McConnell's Jumper Gives Sixers 97-95 Win Over Nets

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — T.J. McConnell made a 10-foot jumper with 6.5 seconds left, lifting the Philadelphia 76ers a 97-95 preseason win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

McConnell, a rookie guard, connected as the shot clock expired. He finished with seven points and six assists.

Jarrett Jack scored 20 points for Brooklyn, including a tying 3-pointer with 29.3 seconds left.

NETS: Thaddeus Young had a game-high 10 rebounds. ... Sergey Karasev scored seven points in his first game since suffering a knee injury March 10. ... Rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson left the game after twisting his right ankle while chasing a long pass early in the fourth quarter.

76ERS: Robert Covington had 23 points and eight rebounds. ... Hollis Thompson finished with 17 points and six rebounds.

ROOKIE WATCH: Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor, the third overall pick in this year's draft, had two points on 1-of-6 shooting in 17 minutes.

DID NOT PLAY: Brooklyn's Bojan Bogdanovic, Andrea Bargnani and Thomas Robinson sat out with injuries.Philadelphia's Nerlens Noel did not dress after bruising his back Thursday against Cleveland.

UP NEXT: Both teams continue preseason play next week. Philadelphia travels to play New York on Monday. Brooklyn returns home to play Boston on Wednesday.
