Storms Causes Damage In Chester County

By Diana Rocco

ROYERSFORD, Pa., (CBS) -- Some parts of the region are seeing damage from the storms Friday night.

The rainfall and high winds resulted in downed trees and difficult conditions for drivers.

Friday evening's tornado warning brought with it some wild weather, heavy downpours and high winds.

"It was really raining, the rain was blowing sideways the way the wind was coming," said Tim Korn.

Tim Korn was taking a nap inside his home on Green Street waiting for his wife to get out of work when he heard the tree come down.

"It shook the whole house I couldn't believe it," he said.

The giant limb fell from a massive tree in the backyard taking out the grill and landing on the roof.  The branches cracked the windshield of the pick-up truck parked in the driveway. His wife came home minutes later to a blocked off street.

"Fire trucks everywhere and the police in front of my house, and I saw the police officer and I said 'where's my husband,' he said, 'he's fine, he's fine,'" said Pat Korn.

"We're blessed. we're lucky," said a neighbor.

The limb also took out the neighbor's fence while they were out to dinner.

"Our back is all glass, the windows, it's like 13 windows this way and then like five this, so the whole back sun room was not even touched," Dawn Choiniere.

The storm left quickly but Tim and Pat now have their work cut out for them with a leak in the roof and a yard full of branches.

"Just glad that it didn't cause more damage than it did," said Pat.

The inclement weather also affected the sports schedule at Spring-Ford High School. The varsity football game against Pottsgrove kicked off about an hour late.
