Hurricane Joaquin Creates Uncertainty For Eagles-Redskins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It has happened before.

The NFL is certainly not afraid to alter game times when it comes to inclement weather and natural disasters. Of course, we all remember late in 2010 when the NFL pushed back the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings game from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday night because of a blizzard.

This time, Hurricane Joaquin is expected to affect this Sunday's Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins game, and the NFL is looking into possible contingency plans.

"We are monitoring the forecast and having dialogue with both teams," said the NFL's senior vice president of communications Greg Aiello.

"Well, we'll wait until Sunday to know what exactly is going to happen, but it's something that we've been monitoring," Eagles coach Chip Kelly said.

While the details of a possible contingency plan are unclear, Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com originally reported the game---scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. E.T. at FedEx Field---could be moved to Week 8. Both the Eagles and Redskins are schedule to have their bye weeks then (November 1st).

However, La Canfora reported on Thursday that the Eagles and Redskins have been notified that they will indeed play this weekend.

94WIP's Howard Eskin reported the game could be moved to St. Louis.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network, who reported on Thursday night that moving the game to Ford Field in Detroit is an option, later tweeted that keeping the game at FedEx Field is becoming more likely.
