Eagles Place Cody Parkey And Andrew Gardner On Season Ending IR
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles have placed kicker Cody Parkey and right-guard Andrew Gardner on injured reserve, ending their seasons, the team announced on Tuesday morning.
Consequently, the Eagles have signed former Miami Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis and offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde.
Parkey's groin injury, which he suffered in pregame warmups on Sunday, was first reported on Monday by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Gardner's Lisfranc injury was first reported on Monday night by 94WIP's Howard Eskin.
A 2013 fifth-round draft pick, Sturgis, 26, connected on just 77.5 percent of his field-goal chances in two seasons with the Dolphins.
Gardner, 29, will likely be replaced by third-year offensive lineman Matt Tobin, who took over for Gardner at right-guard on Sunday.
Through three weeks, Gardner is ranked as the 15th highest graded guard in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. He signed a three-year extension earlier this month.
