Pilgrims Begin Filing Into City For World Meeting Of Families

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The World Meeting of Families doesn't officially start until tomorrow, but pilgrims were lined up at the Pennsylvania Convention Center registering today.

They are coming in from all over the world.

Ishmael is from the Dominican Republic and he's traveling with his own and three other families.

"We are happy to be here and it's a good place here. We like it."

Sister Patricia Jean says she and four other sisters drove all the way from Walton, Kentucky. She's looking forward to the events on the Parkway.

"We're here to help promote vocations to our religious community, so we'll have a table there, and a meet and greet, and see the Holy Father like everybody else."

And then, of course, the locals. Michelle Ciofalo is from Lafayette Hill.

"I think it's important for local people to come, it's such an exciting time and it's a lot closer than Rome."

Events begin Tuesday and will continue through Friday.
