Wawa Celebrates Opening Of New Center City Store
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new Wawa opens in Center City Friday morning, with never seen before features.
The store is taking over the old Robinson Luggage location at Broad and Walnut. It's the first Wawa in the last 14 years to open without a gas station.
Director of Operations Dave Simonetti says they will be trying some new things at this store. One of the new features, he says, is seating:
"We put them right on the windows, because when you're in the city, the best thing is people watching, right? So we've got benches along the windows with some bar stools as well. You got a nice view, you can see all the activity along Broad and Walnut."
They are also releasing some new menu items at this location, including new desserts from the on site bakery.
Wawa officials expect this store to do very well and it's where many of their new ideas will be tested.
