Many Creative, Pope-Themed Parties Taking Place During Papal Visit

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Some people will be celebrating the Pope's arrival in Philadelphia in some unusual ways.

DJ Robert Drake says initially, the Pope's visit coincided with his annual Zombie Prom at the Trocadero:

"The idea of having 1,300 zombies and the Pope in town at the same time seemed kind of cool."

But with all the traffic restrictions, Drake decided to postpone the zombies, and instead host a Pope Party at Franky Bradley's on Chancellor Street:

"And offer people to make a pilgrimage to our place of worship that evening. We are planning a midnight mass in the midst of the dance floor and we then we have a couple of people thinking of coming in various forms of costumes."

Also that weekend, Ian Navoy is organizing a Philly Pope Bike Bar Crawl starting at the Piazza:

"It seems like there are allowing bikes in certain areas of the zone where cars are not allowed."

And the David April of the Fishtown Beer runners says they're running to the "P.O.P.E.:"

"There happens to be a bar in town called Pub On Passyunk East, which of course is the P.O.P.E."

All organizers are anticipating creative costumes.
