A Philadelphia Treasure To Sing For The Pope

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale will be center stage next weekend to sing for Pope.

The 75 boys and 35 men will entertain the faithful shortly before the Papal mass on the Parkway Sunday, September 27th.

Musical Director, Jeffrey Smith says they'll be singing 3 different songs.

"We're gonna start with Ubi Caritas by Paul Mealor, this was a setting that he had written for the wedding of Prince William and Princess Katherine," says Smith, "we will continue with a great arrangement of Amazing Grace, we're gonna conclude with a piece called Holy by a local composer Verolga Nix.

This won't be the first time the boys in red jackets have sung for a Pope. They sang at the Vatican in 1984.
