Allen Iverson Ruled Eligible For Hall Of Fame In 2016

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The day is going to come eventually. Sixers legend Allen Iverson is poised for the Basketball Hall of Fame, but now it appears that day may come sooner than expected.

The Basketball Hall of Fame has announced that Iverson is now eligible to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016, as opposed to 2017.

Iverson's last run in the NBA came in 2009-2010 with the Sixers. However, Iverson then went to Turkey and played professionally during the 2010-2011 season there. The Hall of Fame has made the decision to essentially overlook the small amount of games Iverson played in Turkey, which if counted, could have kept Iverson out of the hall until 2017.

This decision means that Iverson could enter the hall with the greatest players to ever play the game this time next year.
