Officials: 295 Ramp To Black Horse Pike Closed This Weekend In Camden County

LINDENWOLD, N.J., (CBS) -- The ramp from I-295 northbound to Route 168 will be closed this weekend, according to Camden County officials.

Freeholder Ian Leonard has been informed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation that the state will close the ramp from I-295 northbound to Route 168 from 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 as the Direct Connection project advances, according to a news release.

"Residents should be aware that in addition to this weekend's closure, this construction will impact their commute and their communities for several years," said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works in the news release.  "When this project is completed, it will alleviate much of the traffic congestion currently experienced on a daily basis.  It will be a monumental change for this highway interchange creating a substantial upgrade to the current configuration."

The following detour will be in effect for those trying to access Route 168 westbound from I-295 northbound:

Continue on I-295 northbound to Exit 32 (Berlin Road), turn left onto Berlin road, take ramp to I-295 southbound, and take exit 28 to Route 168.

"Whenever you are driving through a road construction zone, please stay alert and be prepared for traffic pattern changes," Leonard said in the news release.  "Motorists should be observant of traffic instructions on electronic message boards if you are traveling through the construction area."

Electronic message signs will be used to notify motorists of the detours, according to the news release, which also says the precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.  Officials say motorists are encouraged to check www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
