Temple's Victory Over Penn State Unforgettable For Team's Long-time Sportscaster

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple football fans are still reveling in the team's 27-10 win against Penn State, including the man who has called the games for more than 30 years.
Harry Donahue has been announcing Temple football games since 1984. This Owls' momentous victory over Penn State on Saturday was a first for him and the first for the school since 1941.
"74 years is a pretty long time," Donahue says, "and to finally experience it, and think about it right after the game and to wake up the next day and say, 'gee, did that really happen?'"
Donahue is a retired KYW Newsradio anchor. It was the twentieth time he has called the game between the Owls and Nittany Lions.
"For me, it was really good to say, 'Temple 27 and Penn State 10,'" Donahue says. "The people I thought of first when the game was over, was all the coaches, and all the fans, who have been around for all these years. They finally have the bragging rights to beating Penn State.
Donahue says the moment was electrifying and gives a boost of confidence to the players for the season to come.
"This game, I am sure, had an impact on all Temple players who had ever played in a Temple-Penn State game," he says, "and on all the coaches.
And it's a moment he will never forget.
"It wasn't a dream," Donahue says, "but it was a dream come true."
