Music, Surprises, Some Chaos Day 1 Of Made In America

By Kristen Johanson, Steve Patterson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More than 50,000 people packed the Ben Franklin Parkway for day one of the 4th annual Made in America concert Saturday.

With five stages and 62 acts, this is one of the biggest ones yet.

Kofi and Milana came in from New York for the full day of music:

"It was awesome, we saw Meek Mill, Modest Mouse," Kofi says.

"I saw Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj who was an impromptu performance," adds Milana.

It was during Meek Mill's performance security officials say there was a risk with pushing and shoving near the main stage. It was Minaj's appearance that seemed to cause the chaos.

But for the most part it was a fun-filled day with big names and lots of dancing.

"I think the crowd really just brings the energy, and just really makes you rethink of Philadelphia just being that hot spot," says Morgan. "It's really becoming a destination for a lot of people and I am glad to have been born and raised here cause it's turning into one."

She adds there's no better way to spend Labor Day weekend.
