Harbaugh: Eagles 'Crossed Line' In Questioning Suggs' Character
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When you watch the replay, it certainly looks like Terrell Suggs is targeting the fragile knees of Sam Bradford. Eagles left-tackle Jason Peters thought so, calling the play a "cheap shot" that was planned and "dirty," after Saturday night's Ravens-Eagles preseason game.
Ravens head John Harbaugh doesn't appreciate the Eagles' questioning Suggs' character.
"As I read most of the Eagles' quotes, I thought they understood the play," Harbaugh said on Monday. "One or two of them didn't understand the play.
"When you start popping off about somebody's character, you've crossed the line," he continued. "That's not really something that we respect. But most of those guys understood the play and understood that [No.] 55 was playing hard and trying to get it stopped."
Earlier on Monday, the NFL agreed with Harbaugh, as the head of officiating Dean Blandino explained why a penalty actually should not have been called for roughing the passer.
However, Eagles coach Chip Kelly disagreed with Blandino, saying, "I thought the interpretation [roughing the passer] on the field was correct. We don't run it more than Seattle, we don't run it more than San Francisco. We don't run it as much as you guys think we do. [Blandino] said it was a read option play. It wasn't a read option play."
Clearly, there is some confusion on the rule.
