Crowd-Powered Bus Offers New Way To Get To Philly For Papal Visit

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As we now know, getting to Philadelphia during Pope Francis' visit may be a daunting task. But there is one company giving the visitors the power to get to the city.

Rally Bus is a way for the crowd to determine where a bus will pick them up and drop them off. So far, hundreds have signed up to wheel their way to Philly:

"While we are doing this on our own, we are also talking to the World Meeting of Families," says Rally Bus Founder and CEO Numaan Akram. "Firstly, to secure bus permits and passes and parking, that's a requirement for anyone coming in, but also working with them to spread the message."

Though the company has pick-up locations all over the Northeast, New Jersey is the hot-spot, Akram says:

"Our most popular cities are actually Atlantic City, Trenton, Princeton, but we also have Asbury Park, Camden, Egg Harbor Township.

He says there's a wide range of options when it comes to places you can get picked up too:

"We pick up from local, usually Park & Rides we use, or shopping centers. But in this case, people have asked us to set rally points at their local parishes."

Ticket prices average around $40.
