Police: 1 Dead, 2 Injured After Wilmington Shooting

WILMINGTON Del., (CBS) –  Police say a woman is dead and another woman and a child are injured following a shooting in Wilmington, Delaware.

Wilmington Police say at about 1:54 p.m. Monday, units responded to the 400 block of W. 7th Street in reference to a shooting investigation.

According to police, arriving units located a 25-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper torso and a four-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her legs. Police say the child was immediately taken to the hospital by assisting officers.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was treated on scene by paramedics and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 51-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to her left leg area, according to police.

There is no word on the conditions of the child and the 51-year-old woman at this time.

The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
