Township Supervisors Vote In Favor Of Allowing Local Wawa Store To Sell Beer

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Pa., (CBS) –  Officials in a local township have voted in favor of allowing Wawa to sell beer at one of its locations.

The Concord Township Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday night to move ahead with a project that would allow Wawa to sell beer at the Concord Township store on Naamans Creek Road in Delaware County.

"I like to drink beer and it's going to be easier to come here and get a brew so I like it," said Wawa customer Dan Price.

"I think it's a good thing. Get more people to come into the Wawa and support it and support our neighborhood here. Sure why not," said Wawa customer Susan Boyle.

There are some conditions. The store could only sell six-packs of beer, and the beer area would be a store inside a store.  Others worry selling beer at a local Wawa could spell trouble.

"You go to Wawa to get your gas and pick up your beer at the same time. It depends on the person. Yeah there could be a problem with that," said Wawa customer Dana Cross.

Nothing is finalized at this time. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will still need to sign off on the deal.

CBS 3 Eyewitness News reached out to Wawa for a statement. A spokesperson told CBS 3 one would come Wednesday.
