An Emotional Vigil Held For Victims Of Northeast Triple Fatal Crash

By Marcy Norton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hundreds of people gathered near the site of Wednesday's triple fatal crash on Sandmeyer Lane in Northeast Philadelphia for a Saturday night vigil to remember the 2 teenage girls and 20-year old man who were killed. Police have said excessive speed likely contributed to the crash.

Friends and family members shared memories of the 3 victims while music played from open car windows. Some people lit candles and piled stuffed teddy bears near a tree, where others had attached photos and balloons. Still others embraced each other, crying softly.

17-year-old Sabrina Rhodes was Rich Lee's niece. Lee attended the vigil Saturday looking for answers.

"I can't put it into words, you know...it's just not right," Lee said. "They're just kids, man. We've all done things like this, and it makes you wonder, why did I get away with doing things like this and they're gone."

The 20-year-old driver of the car was also injured. No word yet on whether police will file any charges.
