The 1.8-mile stretch of trail runs along the canal in a section of Upper Providence known as Port Providence.

John Pearson owns a restaurant along the canal called Fitzwater Station, he says while the hardcore bike riders will prefer the road.

“The person looking for a little exercise and that person who just wants to enjoy a little bit of being outdoors, he’s going to definitely use the trail, and the trail is gorgeous.”
