Watch: Allen Iverson Gives Inspirational Speech At Players Awards

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you ask today's NBA stars who they looked up to and who influenced their careers, most will say former Sixers star Allen Iverson.

On Tuesday night, during BET's inaugural NBA Players' Awards, Iverson was honored with the Game Changer Award. While accepting the award, Iverson paid tribute to the player who influenced his own career, Michael Jordan.

"Growing up wanting to be like Mike. That's what's up, ain't it? If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be on this stage, I wouldn't have had the vision to be a basketball player," Iverson said. "So I love him for that and I honor him for that."

Iverson also honored today's greats.

"I had a conversation with God and I asked him to let me come back as AI and sprinkle a little MJ on me," Iverson said. "A little LeBron, mixed with some Melo, some Kevin Durant, with Steph Curry's jump shot and handle, and Chris Paul toughness."
