Social Media Today: Twitter Changes, Instagram Beefs Up Web, Google+ Removes Feature

Twitter  has removed wallpapers from users' home and notifications timelines on its desktop version. Users now see a stark all-white background instead of their usual customized backgrounds, when viewing their profile, notifications and main timeline. The change doesn't seem to be going over well with those in the twittersphere.

Instagram adds "search" on its desktop version

Instagram is beefing up its desktop version. The photo and video sharing site has added a new feature that lets users search for hashtags, user accounts and locations.

The company is also adding a "top posts" feature to web search results that will display the most popular results for that search above recent posts.

Google+ shutting down its photo sharing feature

Google+ photos, the photo sharing feature built into Google's social network Google+, is shutting down on August 1st. However, Google is offering a tool that'll transition Google+ photos users over to Google photos. Users can find it on your Google+ account photos page.
