Arrest Made After Woman Shot By Stray Bullet In North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police have nabbed a suspect in the stray-bullet shooting of a woman in North Philadelphia Thursday night.

Police say they've arrested 23-year-old Robert Palmer of the 2200 block of North Colorado Street. He's charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other offenses, suspected of firing the bullet that hit a woman in the back around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at 17th and Susquehanna.

According to authorities, as the victim turned onto 17th, she and her passengers heard gunfire. They'd traveled a block before she realized she'd been shot.

Police were called and the victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, and listed in stable condition.

Police say she remained conscious, and was able to move her arms and legs. Authorities say the bullet passed through the Mazda's back and drivers seats before hitting the victim.

Miraculously, no one else was hurt. Ten shell casings and a bag of crack cocaine were found near the scene.
