Del. Woman Reportedly Steals Fire Department's Truck, Crashes It, Then Tries To Return It Before Being Arrested

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Police have charged a Delaware woman with theft of a motor vehicle after she allegedly stole a Delaware City Fire Department pick-up truck from the parking lot of the New Castle County Police headquarters.

On Tuesday, members of the fire department received word that one of their pick-up trucks had been in an accident at the intersection of Lancaster Pike and Centerville Road around 11 a.m.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified a suspect attempting to open the doors of numerous vehicles in the parking lot after being released from the building around 8:15 a.m.

Forty-three-year-old Cuve Harding, of Hockessin, was spotted driving the stolen truck around 2:15 p.m. that afternoon. She was arrested as she attempted to turn into the parking lot of New Castle County Police Headquarters.

Harding was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft greater than $1,500 and other related charges.

She is currently being lodged in Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in lieu of posting $5,000 secured bail.
