12-Week Modernization Project Set To Begin On SEPTA's Media, Sharon Hill Trolley Lines
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA is urging its riders to add some time to their commute stating Monday if they take the Route 101 Media or the Route 102 Sharon Hill trolleys. That's because shuttle buses will replace trolleys while a 12-week modernization project takes place this summer.
The buses will replace the trolleys for the entire line June 15 through September 6. The work includes track replacement and changing out the overhead trolley wires.
SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern says think ahead and leave yourself additional time for your commute.
"Ten to fifteen minutes if they ride the Route 102," she says. "Fifteen to twenty minutes if they ride the 101, just because with the shuttle buses, they have to be out in traffic a little more than the trolleys are. And just with the boarding locations, there might be a little bit more time to add to your commute."
Some of the bus stops will not be at the trolley stop locations. There are signs posted.
