Phillies Open Weekend Series With Giants Tonight
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies continue their homestand tonight with the first of three games against the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies have gone 2-4 on this homestand so far. They were swept three straight by Colorado before taking two out of three from Cincinnati, that series wrapping up last night with a 6-4 Reds win.
After last night's loss, the Phillies optioned left-handed reliever Jake Diekman down to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. It has really been a struggle for Diekman this season to the tune of a 6.75 ERA and 2.02 WHIP. To take his place in the bullpen, the Phillies have selected the contract of right-hander Dustin McGowan from the Iron Pigs.
Jerome Williams gets the start for the Phillies. It has been a struggle for Williams this season in Philadelphia. The veteran right-hander is 3-5 with an ERA of 5.49 and the league is hitting .315 against him. Last time out he lost to Colorado, 4-1, allowing all four runs in five innings of work.
San Francisco will start right-hander Tim Lincecum. He is 5-3 this season with an ERA of 3.00.
Here is the Phillies lineup tonight vs. Lincecum:
1. CF Ben Revere
2. RF Jeff Francoeur
3. 2B Chase Utley
4. 1B Ryan Howard
5. 3B Maikel Franco
6. LF Cody Asche
7. SS Cesar Hernandez
8. C Cameron Rupp
9. P Jerome Williams
