Rendell On Christie: 'That's An Awful Lot Of Hot Dogs'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- No one understands the ridiculousness of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie spending over $82,000 in food at football games than former Philadelphia Mayor, Pennsylvania Governor, and food connoisseur Ed Rendell.

"That's an awful lot of hot dogs!" Rendell told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Tuesday.

Christie, according to reports, used a debit card to pay a total of $82,594 to Delaware North Sportservice, which operates the concessions at MetLife Stadium. Rendell is disappointed that Christie spent tax payers dollars at Giants and Jets games, something he says he never did in Philly.

"Of course there was a Mayor's box in the Vet [Veteran's Stadium] while I was Mayor [of Philadelphia] and I always made sure that my campaign paid for all of the food and drink that was consumed," Rendell explained. "I never charged the tax payers. It's not right, it's simply not right."
