Officer, 3 Others Hurt After Car Strikes Police SUV In Southwest Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say an officer and three others were injured during an accident early Thursday morning in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia.

This happened around 2 a.m. at 58th Street and Woodland Avenue.

Police say a car struck the police SUV after one of the vehicles ran a red light while the officer was responding to a call. It is not clear at this time which vehicle ran the light.

The officer was taken Presbyterian Hospital with a possible head injury. Three people in the other vehicle were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. All are expected to recover.

Also during the accident, the police SUV spun away, knocking down a traffic signal.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
