Atlantic City Man Sentenced For Role In Drug Ring

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A man has received a lengthy prison term for his role in a heroin ring run by a street gang that used threats, intimidation and violence to maintain control of Atlantic City's illegal drug trade.

Federal prosecutors say 21-year-old Kareem Bailey was recently sentenced to more than 20 years in prison. A federal jury convicted the Atlantic City man on two weapons charges and single counts of conspiracy to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and using a cellular telephone in furtherance of the conspiracy.

Bailey admitted engaging in a conspiracy with several members of the gang known as "Dirty Block," which prosecutors say controlled heroin sales through gun violence, including at least one homicide.

Authorities say the gang distributed heroin in and around several public housing complexes.
