Weekend Box Office Report: 'Furious 7' Still Not Slowing Down

By Bill Wine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's still fast and it's still doing furious business.

The action-thriller sequel, Furious 7, extended its first-place string to four weekends in a row, earning an estimated $18-million on its fourth weekend of release.

That brings its cumulative total well over the $300-million mark.

Second place again went to the holdover comedy sequel, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which took in $15-million.

Two of the weekend's debuting titles also cracked the top ten:

The romantic fantasy, Age of Adaline, starring Blake Lively, earned $13-million for a third-place finish.

And the science fiction drama, Ex Machina, took in over $5-million, good for sixth.

Industry-wide totals were about 15 percent lower than those of the counterpart weekend last year, but they should certainly pick up next weekend, when the Avengers sequel kicks off the official summer movie season.
