Pope Francis May Add Stop In Cuba To Fall Trip That Includes Philadelphia
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Vatican says Pope Francis is thinking about adding Cuba to his itinerary during his September journey to North America, which includes a trip to Philadelphia.
The pope is coming to Philadelphia September 26th and 27th. He's also making stops in Washington and New York.
The pontiff played a major role in helping to broker a deal toward normalizing relations between the U.S. and Cuba.
KYW Newsradio asked this man in Center City what he thought about another Papal stop:
"I think the Pope going to Cuba is perfectly okay. I have no problem with that. I certainly have a problem with a president who unilaterally decides to open up those relationships."
A Vatican spokesman says it's too early to say whether any logistics for a Cuba visit are being worked out, and that no final decision has been made.
