Chester County Dentist And His Wife Facing Narcotics Charges

BERWYN, Pa (CBS) -- A Chester County dentist and his wife are facing narcotics charges.

Police say Doctor Chad Gretzula illegally prescribed drugs for his wife, Rebecca, and members of his staff.

Authorities say Rebecca Gretzula was using up to 500 hydrocodone pills per month, as well as injecting herself with Fentanyl while their children were playing in their home.

Police also say the suspects would sometimes replace drugs meant to sedate patients with saline solution.

Chester County DA Tom Hogan says, "This is a case about a doctor recklessly abusing his license and supplying drugs to an addict. The fact that the doctor and addict were husband and wife is a stark reminder about the destructive power of these opiates. A husband was willing to feed his wife's addiction, risking his own career and freedom. A mother was willing to use hydrocodone and shoot up fentanyl while she was supposed to be caring for her children. Sadly, this is neither the first nor the last family to be destroyed by these powerful prescription drugs."
