Senate OKs Bill To Rename I-84 Exit After Slain Pa. Trooper
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania state senators are moving to rename an Interstate 84 exit for the Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was killed in an ambush at a nearby barracks.
The Senate voted unanimously Monday to rename the Blooming Grove exit in Pike County for Cpl. Bryon Dickson. The bill now goes to the House.
The 38-year-old Dickson was killed Sept. 12 outside the Blooming Grove barracks. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and left behind a wife and two young sons.
Trooper Alex Douglass was critically wounded in the Sept. 12 shooting. He has said he hopes to return to duty after his 17th surgery this month.
The alleged shooter, Eric Frein, was caught after a 48-day manhunt in the Pocono Mountains and is charged with first-degree murder.
