Registration Now Open For One Of Philadelphia's Biggest Races

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Registration opened at midnight for this year's Philadelphia Marathon and event officials are expecting a record number of runners.

"We are expecting are expecting around 30,000 people to register this year," says Lauren Cox with the Philadelphia Marathon.

She adds they're planning on having at least 60,000 spectators out and enjoying the event:

"Mayor Nutter is out all day from the beginning to the end until the very last person crosses the finish line. He's out giving all of the runners high fives, cheering them on and really showing that support on behalf of the city."

Registration is open until November 21st or until it sells out. The race takes place November 22nd.
