Girlfriend Of Slain Darby Borough Police Officer Charged For Prior Domestic-related Incident

DARBY BOROUGH, Pa. (CBS) -- Questions linger tonight surrounding the shooting death of an off-duty Delaware County police officer -- killed in his own home over the weekend.

Eyewitness News has learned that the girlfriend of Officer Mark Hudson is in custody on charges stemming from an incident in August.

Authorities say in the August incident, 27-year-old Tyaina Finch threatened Hudson with a weapon. Following that incident, sources say Hudson took out a restraining order against Finch in January.

The 26-year-old off-duty Darby officer was fatally shot once in the chest around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and police say the only other person in the home was Finch.

Authorities say she was taken into questioning that day and later was hospitalized on Sunday under the care of police for a medical incident.

For the August incident, officials say Finch has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and possession of a weapon.

Darby Borough Police Chief Robert Smythe says, "She's been arrested for that complaint. She's been put on $250,000 bail."

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan adds, "We're hoping by tomorrow to be able to hold a press conference and release details of this particular case."
