Interest Growing In Many Regions Outside Of Philly For Papal Visit

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia isn't the only place where preparations are underway for the visit of Pope Francis and the World Meeting of Families conference in late September.

The Roman Catholic Allentown Diocese, whose territory goes all the way up to the Chester, Montgomery and Bucks County lines, is holding events Sunday at four churches throughout the region to generate participation in the pope's visit and world meeting.

Sue Matour, coordinator for the "The Family Fully Alive" sessions, says families will gather for a meal, prayer, group activities and a speaker.

And she says, they're also getting a bag of goodies given with a goal.

"They're getting a resource bag of materials with prayers and prayer cards from some of the shrines in the Philadelphia area, as well as the World Meeting of Families who supplied some information for people to register."

St. Catharine of Siena Church in Exeter Township, close to the western Montgomery County border, is one of the sites for Sunday's event.
