Fans React On 94WIP: Dislike Foles Trade, Out On Chip Kelly

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Eagles Armageddon has begun!

(The rest of this article is better suited to be read while lowly listening to this song in the background. Got it? OK, proceed.)

On Tuesday, new "GM" Chip Kelly traded Nick Foles, a 2015 fourth-round pick, and a 2016 second-round pick to St. Louis for Sam Bradford and a 2015 fifth-round pick. Everyone went bananas.

"This is really, truly a day for the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles to speak and speak loudly and speak strongly," 94WIP Morning Show host Angelo Cataldi said at the top of the 6 a.m. hour on Wednesday. "Because what we witnessed yesterday was catastrophic, in my opinion. It was one of the worst trades I have ever heard in my life. There is no other shoe to drop. The only other shoe to drop is a big heavy boot and it's gonna land right on our heads. That's what happening with Chip Kelly, a complete and utter incompetent general manager who has completely destroyed the roster of his football. That's my opening thought."

The 94WIP Morning Show took a record 64 calls in four hours on Wednesday. Only five people said they like the trade.

Furthermore, on the 94WIP Morning Show's Audio Roadshow question---which saw a record number of votes---a whopping 85-percent of fans said they disliked the Foles-Bradford deal.

"My dad can't go to the game now because all the handicap spaces are gonna be taken," a caller named Francisco joked.

"Booooo!" caller, Kenny yelled into the phone. "That's what I'm gonna do the entire season. Rhea [Hughes], change the update---'Eagles suck, Flyers suck, Phillies suck, have a nice day.' I can't get over this! It was like I was married to a super model for two years and at 4:30 yesterday I walked into the room and she's in bed with the mailman!"

"Angelo, I don't get what he's doing. I'm at a loss for words. I don't get it. I don't know what he's doing," another caller Tom said. "I'm 48-years-old Ang and I'm a lifelong Philadelphia fan---all the teams---and like I said, I'm just stunned today."

One caller, Zae, had an optimistic tale to tell.

"The whole city is down," Zae said. "See, see, see it was this story about this kid named Jack. His family was poor man, so his mom gave him the cow. To go into the city, it was the last thing they had. He went into the city and traded the cow for the beans. Nobody knew why he traded him for these beans. Then he came home, planted the beans and got a bean stalk! The goose laid the golden egg. Chip Kelly is Jack! Chip Kelly got rid of the whole team for some beans!"

The 94WIP Mike & Ike Show asked fans using the Audio Roadshow app if they trust Kelly. Approximately 75-percent do not. As for the Foles-Bradford trade, Michael Barkann seemed more understanding than Ike Reese.

"If he [Sam Bradford] stays healthy, I'll take my chances with him [Bradford]," Barkann said. "I'll ride with Sam Bradford.

"If Nick Foles doesn't stay healthy, say if he was here and got injured, he only costs you $1.7 [million]," Reese argued. "This costs you $13 [million]-plus, a second-round and a fourth-round draft pick, and he may leave or if he's injured he's no good. So it cost you more. You've got more riding on Sam Bradford because you invested more, you have more invested in him."

On the 94WIP Innes And Bruno Show, Josh Innes was also adamantly against the Foles-Bradford move calling it a, "bad, bad day."

"Everybody was fooled," Tony Bruno said. "And now Chip Kelly throws a monkey wrench into that. And that's why I think there's anger."

"Fine with all those moves because I thought it was leading to something bigger, and that something bigger, was going to be Marcus Mariota," Innes continued. "I'm pissed for the city. I'm pissed for the people. This is not what people signed up for."
