Hollis Thomas On Seattle's Goal-Line Pass: 'I Thought Of Andy Reid'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Seattle Seahawks' baffling decision to throw the ball from the one-yard line at the end of Super Bowl XLIX, reminded one former player of his old coach.
94WIP Morning Show co-host Hollis Thomas, a ten-year Eagles' nose-tackle, was asked for his reaction to the mind-boggling goal-line line pass play.
"I thought of Andy Reid," Thomas said on the 94WIP Morning Show Monday. "Well sometimes coaches, offensive coordinators feel like they smarter than they actually are. And they think---'Oh, we gonna surprise 'em!'
"No, just run it," Thomas continued. "Run it down their throats. You've been it doing it all game!"
Thomas played for the Reid-coached NFC Champion Eagles, whom fell short in Super Bowl XXXIX against Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and those same Patriots.
"If somehow the Eagles were there and were that close to a championship," 94WIP Morning Show host Angelo Cataldi said of the Seahawks' devastating loss.
"Oh, I would have been afraid to come in," said co-host Rhea Hughes.
"I woulda been afraid to come in because I have to go over a bridge and I would have jumped before I got here," Cataldi joked. "I'm telling you Al [Morganti], I take these things a little too seriously. I might have harmed myself."
"I'm thinking of any quarterback---he would have called it off," Morganti said, questioning Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to run the play.
The atrocious play call will go down as one of the worst ever. In fact, about 85% of fans during the 94WIP Morning Show Monday morning voted that it is the worst call in NFL history.
