Some In The Area Have Tough Time Coping With The Cold

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's certainly feels like winter in Philadelphia right now with frigid temperatures, making it tough for people to be outdoors.

Those who ventured outside Saturday tell KYW Newsradio the only way to cope is by dressing in layers:

"I've got a zipped up jacked underneath, long johns shirt underneath this."

"Always have a hat, gloves and scarf and invest in a good coat."

"I'm wearing long johns and a sweater and a hat and coat and a scarf and gloves and boots."

"I wish I had one of those face masks going on right now!"

This man describes Philadelpha's cold temperatures this weekend as shocking:

"Well, as soon as you step outside, you'll be like, woah, okay? Did you really have to come outside today?"

This traveler from Argentina was caught off guard by the chilly temperatures:

"Oh yeah, over there it's super hot now it's like over 100 (degrees)."

And as this visitor from the Chicago points out, it's perhaps colder here than the Windy City

"This is way worse, actually. I think it's like 30 degrees in Chicago right now, which, this feels like it's about 5 or 10 degrees."

But not everyone is complaining about the temperatures. This woman was out enjoying the cold:

I love it! It makes you feel warm inside."

This construction worker agrees, saying he's not bothered by the cold because he's used to it:

"Most work is done in the wintertime."

His advice for staying warm: never wear cotton as your base layer.
