Weather: Windy and Cold, But Dry

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Wednesday will feature "deceptively" sunny skies, and we call it that because it can mask what it is going to feel like outside. Already chilly temperatures will make it feel even colder by a blustery northwest breeze, at least for the first half of the day. Many people are waking up to both positive and negative single-digit wind chills this morning.

Thursday will begin with some sun that will quickly give way to clouds by midday. This will signal the approach of a new system that will be impacting the region Thursday night into Friday morning.

Only minor snow accumulations are expected, but they will still cause some issues during the morning commute on Friday. A general coating to an inch is expected in most spots, with 1-2" possible further north.

What To Expect

Arctic air will send temperatures plummeting in the wake of this system. Saturday is going to be one cold day. Morning temperatures will fall into the single digits.

Sunday will be mainly cloudy, in advance of yet another system, this one with much more energy. Snow will begin as early as Sunday night, with some low to moderate accumulations before some rain mixes in Monday morning.

As has happened pretty often this winter, locations to the north and west should see the higher amounts, with southern and eastern locations mixing with rain first and thus lowering totals. However, this is a storm that we will have to watch more closely in the coming days. More information to come, so stay tuned.
