More Snow Coming, Major Snowstorm for NJ?

By Katie Fehlinger

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ok, before we address the headliner, what a wallop!

Though the brunt of our moisture-rich coastal storm continues to pull away, additional rounds of showers will still roll through occasionally through Saturday afternoon. Depending on temperature and location, you may find just clouds. Or you might find some rain, some snow, some ice, or a mix of all 3. We still need the back edge of this large system to pass through before we can wipe our hands of this storm. That won't happen until Saturday evening.

So how much snow did we see? The Lehigh Valley was the snow winner with totals as high as 6-8". Here are just a few choice snowfall totals elsewhere:

PA
Fleetwood - 6.0"
Chester Springs - 2.5"
Upper Darby - 2.0"
Philadelphia International - 1.0"

NJ
Oak Ridge - 5.5"
Ewing - 5.0"
Bordentown - 3.0"
Vineland - Trace

DE
New Castle County Airport - 0.3"
Selbyville - Trace

Quite the gradient!

Now, we DO catch a break Sunday, but it's brief. We'll start with sun, but that'll be followed up by clouds (indicative of what's to come). Our next Alberta clipper is already here Sunday night to deliver fresh snow, which will likely fall through a good portion of Monday, definitely making a mess of at least the morning drive. Snow accumulations in Philadelphia and points north and west could be on the order of 3-6", though that's still just a possibility.

**IMPORTANT UPDATE: There is indication in our modeling guidance that this clipper may garner some Atlantic moisture and rapidly intensify as it crosses our area. With enough cold air, that means the southern tier of the Delaware Valley (Delaware, and especially out to the shore points) could see higher snow totals into Monday night. Some guidance even suggests a the storm would hang out over NJ most of Tuesday. If that were to happen, totals of 4-8"+ wouldn't be out of the question. However, things may change so we need to monitor closely...

...which we'll do for you! Stay tuned, we'll keep you ahead of each and every storm.
